Region information.

Central Serengeti blends rolling grasslands, acacia woodland, and granite kopjes, with the Great Migration passing nearby at different times of year. Calving peaks to the south from December to March, herds push through central areas in April and May, and river country to the northwest and north holds them mid-year before they return with the short rains. Predators are plentiful and birding strong. National park rules limit off road and night activities, preserving a natural rhythm, while sunrise ballooning operates in designated zones.
