Region information.
Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe’s largest reserve (~14,650 km²), spans Kalahari sandveld, savannah and teak woodland between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls. It supports over 100 mammals and 400+ bird species and one of Africa’s largest elephant populations, with seasonal concentrations around pumped waterholes in the dry months. As a national park, activities are regulated; private concessions inside Hwange may additionally offer guided walking and spot-lit night drives. Access is typically via Victoria Falls to Manga Airstrip, then a game-drive transfer. Expect lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah across woodlands and open pans.
