South Luangwa National Park spans about 9,050 km², a wild valley famed as the Valley of the Leopard. The Luangwa River and ox-bow lagoons support 450 bird species and around 60 mammal species, from large elephant herds to endangered wild dog. This is the birthplace of the walking safari; guided walks and guided night drives (with spotlights) complement daylight game viewing. Chinzombo sits on the river’s curve, roughly 1.5 hours by game-drive transfer from Mfuwe International Airport.
