Set on a sweeping curve of the Luangwa River, Time + Tide Chinzombo brings contemporary style to wild South Luangwa. Six expansive luxury safari tents - five doubles and one two-bedroom family - feature river-view soaking tubs, private plunge pools and eco-cooled sleeping. When levels allow, add seasonal boating on the Luangwa and time in wildlife hides; photographers appreciate unhurried sightings. Region information.
South Luangwa National Park spans about 9,050 km², a wild valley famed as the Valley of the Leopard. The Luangwa River and ox-bow lagoons support 450 bird species and around 60 mammal species, from large elephant herds to endangered wild dog. This is the birthplace of the walking safari; guided walks and guided night drives (with spotlights) complement daylight game viewing. Chinzombo sits on the river’s curve, roughly 1.5 hours by game-drive transfer from Mfuwe International Airport. Dry months (Jul–Oct) concentrate wildlife at water, while green season (Nov–Mar) brings migrant birds and dramatic skies.
