Highlights & Activities.
Morning, afternoon and night game drives search for lion, leopard, wild dog and elephant along the Khwai River. Guided walking safaris with armed guides highlight tracks, birdlife and botany. When water levels allow, glide by mokoro; boating and catch-and-release fishing may be possible nearby. A seasonal 20-minute scenic helicopter flip is included on 3-night stays. In camp, enjoy the pool, sunken lounge, and open-kitchen dining, boma evenings, private deck meals and flexible picnics. Cultural visits to Khwai village preschool can be arranged, supporting community projects. Stargazing and sundowners close each day.
Region information.
The Khwai Community Concession borders the northeastern edge of Moremi Game Reserve and protects floodplains, mopane woodland and the wildlife-rich Khwai River. As a community-run area, it allows night drives, guided walking and seasonal mokoro excursions not permitted inside Moremi, while sharing unfenced boundaries that enable free wildlife movement. Expect elephant year-round, with regular lion, leopard and African wild dog sightings, and excellent birding. Access is via light aircraft to Khwai Airstrip, followed by a game-drive transfer; helicopter links from Maun and Kasane are also available. Typical flights from Maun take about 40 minutes.
