What is a stargazing safari?

A night focused experience that uses Africa’s dark skies to view constellations and the Milky Way. Sleep on star beds or private sleepout decks with guides on call, safety briefings and warm bedding.

Where are the clearest skies?

Namibia’s desert is renowned for extremely dark skies near the International Dark Sky Reserve. Botswana’s Okavango and Linyanti, Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools and Hwange, and South Africa’s Lowveld also offer superb clarity.

When is the best time to go?

Dry months help with clear air. For the darkest skies, travel near the new moon so starlight and the Milky Way are most visible. We plan dates and routing around moon phases.

Is it safe and comfortable?

Yes. Sleepouts use raised, staffed platforms with radio contact. Expect proper bedding, hot drinks and clear procedures. Minimum age and weather policies apply by camp and region.

Layers for cool nights, a beanie, head torch with red light, and if shooting the sky, a wide angle lens, tripod and remote. We provide packing tips and photo guidance on request.
