Health and Safety.

  • Vaccinations

Some destinations may require or recommend vaccinations such as Yellow Fever, Typhoid, or Hepatitis A and B. We suggest checking with your healthcare provider and the destination embassy for the most current advice. Our team also keeps an up-to-date list of vaccination guidance by region and will happily advise based on your final itinerary.

  • Malaria

Many safari destinations fall within malaria zones. Whether to take antimalarial medication is a personal decision between you and your doctor. All our partner camps provide mosquito nets and repellents, and we recommend light, neutral clothing to help prevent bites. You can also explore our malaria heatmap for region-specific risk levels.

  • Wildlife & Insects

NOMARA locations are truly immersive, and it is not unusual to see wildlife like elephants passing through camps. All our partners are supported by expert guides to ensure your safety. In some areas, tsetse flies can be a minor nuisance, wearing neutral colors and using repellent usually keeps them at bay.

Your Safety Is Our Priority.

For many first-time travelers to Africa, questions around safety are completely natural. With NOMARA, your wellbeing is our highest priority. Every journey is thoughtfully designed and operated in close collaboration with our trusted partners and expert local guides; all of whom are experienced, accredited, and deeply familiar with the environments you will explore.

While your trip may include thrilling moments in nature and up-close wildlife encounters, you will always be in the safest hands. From the moment you arrive, the warmth, professionalism, and knowledge of your guides and staff will quickly put any concerns at ease.

For complete peace of mind, NOMARA provides an emergency telephone 24/7 direct contact to our team should anything come up during your journey. With NOMARA, you can focus fully on the magic of Africa.

Travel Insurance.

All NOMARA guests are required to have comprehensive travel insurance that includes medical evacuation. It is essential for covering medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and any unexpected events. Most of our partner's lodges have first aid facilities and access to nearby medical services, but your insurance ensures you are fully protected.

Once your trip is confirmed, we will send a guest booking form. It covers the essentials — like passport details and emergency contacts — plus the fun touches, such as your favorite drink and any special occasions. It also includes space to confirm medical info and your travel insurance policy details.

If anything, unexpected happens, this information helps our team or local partners respond quickly, and make sure your favorite drink is waiting when things settle down.
