The Great Migration
The Great Migration is one of nature’s greatest spectacles, as over a million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move across the Serengeti and Masai Mara. Camps like Sayari, Rekero, and Serian’s mobile camps position guests close to river crossings, calving grounds, and dramatic predator action, offering unmatched wildlife encounters.
Following the Herds
Begin in the Serengeti South, where mobile camps like Serian’s South set near calving season. Journey north to Songa or Usawa Serengeti, where herds fill the plains. By July, stay at Sayari or Grumeti for river crossings. Finally, Rekero or Elephant Pepper Camp brings the Mara’s drama alive.

Experiences & Highlights
Migration journeys are built around being in the right place at the right time, with camps that move or position for seasonal highlights. Early in the year, Serian’s South or Serengeti Mobile Kusini places you near Ndutu’s calving grounds where thousands of wildebeest drop their young and predators concentrate. As the herds push north, Songa and Usawa Serengeti track the movement across central and western corridors, with time near the Grumeti for early river crossings in June.
By July and August, Sayari Camp and Serian’s Lamai sit close to the Mara River for dramatic crossings and patient days along key bends. Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge offers an elegant base near rich woodlands, while later in the season Rekero and Elephant Pepper Camp provide access to Masai Mara plains as herds split and settle. Drives are unhurried, with picnic breakfasts and long, flexible hours that allow you to wait, move, and return when conditions change. Guides coordinate with spotters, read the light and the wind, and position safely for the view without pressure.
