Day 1 - 4 - Ubuntu Migration Camp, Serengeti National Park (South), Tanzania

  • Spacious canvas tents stand on low decks with views of the grass plains. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a safari bucket shower, a basin and a flushing toilet. Sleep in twin or double beds dressed with crisp linen, with bedside lamps and storage to unpack. A veranda at the front is set for quiet time and sunrise views over the plains. Wi-Fi is available with service veriable.

  • From January to mid March Ubuntu bases in the Southern Serengeti near Kusini, beside short grass plains and seasonal pans. February and March bring peak calving and frequent predator action around newborn calves. The camp has lounge and dining tents, a bar and a boma campfire. Expect bush breakfasts, picnic lunches on full day drives and alfresco latern lit dinners. Hot air balloon safari are available.

Day 5 - 8 - Serian's Adventure Fly Camping, Nogorongoro Conservation Area, Tanzania

  • Lightweight canvas tents are pitched anew each evening in secluded spots near the Seketeti Escarpment. Spend your nights sleeping out in lightweight tents, in a makeshift camp that moves at will. The end of each day’s walk brings you to your new site for the night, and creature comforts await: cozy beds, warm bucket showers, and a hearty meal around the campfire as you gaze up at the stars.

  • Fly camping takes its name from sleeping in the bush under nothing more than a flysheet, as was the camping tradition before the luxury-laden era of ‘glamping’ arrived. The premise is that you spend the days walking, and the nights sleeping out in light weight tents, in a makeshift camp that moves each day, the end of each day’s walk brings you to your new site for the night. Fly camping brings a whole new dimension to your experience, and a taste of the wilderness that few others ever encounter.

  • Six spacious canvas tents sit in a bay of acacia woodland overlooking the short grass plains. Inside are twin or king beds with bedside lamps and a small writing table. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a flushing toilet and a classic bucket shower prepared hot. Canvas and mesh panels manage airflow. A shaded veranda fronts each tent for coffee, midday rest and a private lantern lit dinners.

  • Serian’s Serengeti South lies in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area at the southern tip of the short grass plains. Preferred airstrip is Mwiba. February and March place you by the calving grounds with predators close. Every booking includes a private 4WD with dedicated guide and spotter. Hosted en famille meals unfold in the candlelit mess and around the campfire, with bush breakfasts and picnic lunches on full day drives.
