Tented suite interior with deck and floodplain views, Busanga Bush Camp Kafue National Park Zambia

Set in the heart of Zambia’s Busanga Plains, Wilderness Busanga Bush Camp is an intimate, dry-season camp of just four tented suites within Kafue National Park. Open for five months each year, it delivers a remote, off-the-beaten-track safari powered 100% by solar. A charming, tree-shaded main area with an open dining deck and lantern ‘chandelier’ frames savannah views. Dawn mists reveal puku and red lechwe, while lion dynamics play out across these ‘Plains of Plenty.’

Highlights & Activities.

Morning and afternoon game drives sweep across roughly 600 km² of seasonally inundated plains, with prolific puku, red lechwe and roan, and big lion prides. After dark, exhilarating infra-red spot-lit night drives reveal leopard and other nocturnals. Early in the season, when waters still linger, take boating excursions through hippo-lined channels for superb birding. Back at camp, savour bush brunches and lantern-lit dinners beneath the trees; private dining is easily arranged. Optional in-tent massage treatments are available. Expect sunrise mists, golden light and generous time at sightings for photographers.

Region information.

The Busanga Plains sit in northern Kafue National Park, a remote mosaic of seasonally flooded grasslands laced with channels and tree islands. As waters recede in the dry season, roughly 600 km² of open savannah attracts puku, red lechwe, roan and sable, with powerful lion dynamics on display and excellent birding with notable waterbirds. Because this is a national park (not a private concession), activities follow park rules: daytime game drives, permitted night drives using ethical spotlights, and early-season boating when water remains high. The area re-floods with the first rains, closing camps.
