Region information.

South Luangwa National Park covers about 9,050 km², a wild valley nicknamed the Valley of the Leopard. The Luangwa River and its oxbow lagoons support around 60 mammal and 450 bird species, from large elephant herds to endangered wild dog. This is the birthplace of the walking safari; guided walks and guided night drives with spotlights complement daytime viewing. Nsolo sits deep inside the park on the Luwi River, typically reached by a ~2-hour game-drive transfer from Mfuwe International Airport. Dry months concentrate wildlife at water; early rains bring lush scenes and migrant birds.
