Zimbabwe - Africa’s most Underrated Safari Destination
“Every journey we design is completely Tailor-Made. Drawing on 15+ years of trusted relationships across Africa, we create private experiences, hand-select extraordinary lodges, and design journeys that unfold entirely around you.”
Your Zimbabwe trip is planned from first-hand experience — every detail carefully curated by experts who know it well.
Why Zimbabwe »
Zimbabwe offers a safari experience that rewards those who seek it out. From the legendary walking and canoeing of Mana Pools to the vast elephant-filled plains of Hwange, it is a destination of extraordinary wildlife, dramatic landscapes and experiences found nowhere else on the continent.
Walk the banks of the Zambezi at Mana Pools as elephant feed around you, paddle through one of Africa's most iconic river wilderness areas by canoe, and track rhino on foot through the ancient granite kopjes of the Matobo Hills. End with the raw power of Victoria Falls, seen at its most dramatic from the Zimbabwean side.
When to Visit Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe offers something different in every season — from peak game viewing in the dry months to Victoria Falls at full flood. Here's how the year breaks down.
Dry Season
May – October
Best for Safaris
Zimbabwe's classic safari season. Hwange National Park's waterholes attract enormous elephant herds and Mana Pools on the Zambezi comes alive with legendary walking safaris and canoe trips. Wildlife is concentrated and visible, guides are outstanding and the experience is deeply immersive.
Peak Season
August – October
Prime Wildlife
Hwange's waterholes reach peak concentration — lion, wild dog and cheetah sightings are exceptional. Mana Pools canoe safaris offer a uniquely close encounter with hippos, crocs and elephants drinking at the river's edge. One of Africa's most underrated peak wildlife experiences.
Green Season
November – April
Great Value
Victoria Falls reaches its most dramatic and powerful between March and May. Lush green landscapes, abundant birdlife and significantly lower rates across most camps. Fewer visitors and a more personal experience throughout. An excellent choice for birders or those combining a falls visit with safari.

What People Are Saying
“We returned from Africa more than a month ago, but we are already thinking about where to go next in Africa! Working with the NOMARA folks was so easy. We spoke to a few different providers. After speaking with James the first time, we knew we had found the right company to help us.
This was our first time travelling to Africa, and we have 2 teenagers, so we were not really sure what to expect. James took us through everything, and he also entertained us during the planning time with many interesting stories of his own!”
— Adam Dowd, USA“Nomara planned and organised a trip of a lifetime for our group to Botswana. Thank you to both Craig and James, who worked tirelessly to make this trip possible.
This is one for the memory banks. We will definitely return to Africa and can't recommend the team at Nomara Africa Travel enough. Their advice and knowledge were exceptional, with all the planning made easy.”
— Shawn DeLuca, USA“We got back just a few weeks ago from our Tanzania trip, and we are still talking about it with everyone around us! Nomara planned everything so carefully.
The Camps were beautiful. The staff were just brilliant, always one step ahead and looking after us so well. The food was delicious.
Big thanks to James and Craig at Nomara Africa Travel for making this dream trip happen. We will remember it forever!”
