Your Zambia safari holiday is planned from first-hand experience — every detail carefully curated by experts who know it well.

Why Zambia »

Zambia offers wild, untamed beauty and exceptional safari experiences. From the predator-rich plains of South Luangwa to the riverfront wilderness of the Lower Zambezi, it’s a land of abundant wildlife, world-class walking safaris, and breathtaking natural wonders, including Victoria Falls, one of the greatest spectacles on earth.

Follow leopards on a South Luangwa safari through ebony groves, drift along the Zambezi past elephants in Lower Zambezi National Park, and explore the remote Kafue National Park and Busanga Plains where predators roam in abundance. End with a stay near Victoria Falls for a perfect blend of adventure and wonder.

When to Visit Zambia

Zambia is a seasonal destination — the best time to visit depends on what you want from your safari. Here's how the year breaks down.

Dry Season

May – October

Best for Safaris

The classic Zambia safari season. Grasses thin, wildlife gathers around rivers and waterholes, and game viewing is exceptional. Walking safaris in South Luangwa are at their finest from June onwards. This is peak season, book well in advance.

Peak Season

July – October

Prime Wildlife

The pinnacle of the Zambia safari season. Leopard sightings in South Luangwa, elephant gatherings along the Lower Zambezi, and the remote Kafue and Busanga Plains at their most spectacular. Expect the best game viewing conditions of the year.

Green Season

November – April

Great Value

Fewer visitors, lower prices and a completely different atmosphere. Lush green landscapes, exceptional birding and Victoria Falls at its most dramatic from March to May. Some remote camps close, but those that remain open offer an intimate, unhurried experience.

What People Are Saying

“We returned from Africa more than a month ago, but we are already thinking about where to go next in Africa! Working with the NOMARA folks was so easy. We spoke to a few different providers. After speaking with James the first time, we knew we had found the right company to help us.

This was our first time travelling to Africa, and we have 2 teenagers, so we were not really sure what to expect. James took us through everything, and he also entertained us during the planning time with many interesting stories of his own!”

— Adam Dowd, USA

“Nomara planned and organised a trip of a lifetime for our group to Botswana. Thank you to both Craig and James, who worked tirelessly to make this trip possible.

This is one for the memory banks. We will definitely return to Africa and can't recommend the team at Nomara Africa Travel enough. Their advice and knowledge were exceptional, with all the planning made easy.”

— Shawn DeLuca, USA

“We got back just a few weeks ago from our Tanzania trip, and we are still talking about it with everyone around us! Nomara planned everything so carefully.

The Camps were beautiful. The staff were just brilliant, always one step ahead and looking after us so well. The food was delicious.

Big thanks to James and Craig at Nomara Africa Travel for making this dream trip happen. We will remember it forever!”

— Melissa Sainsbury, USA
