Why DumaTau stands out

DumaTau sits on the water-rich edges of the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, on Osprey Lagoon and close to the Savuti Channel. This is elephant country, with broad views, seasonal waterways, and that feeling of space you can only find in northern Botswana. Suites are set along wooden walkways with private plunge pools and calm, contemporary interiors that keep your focus on the wild outside. Days stretch the way good safari days should, with time for the action and time to exhale.

Out on drive, guides work both land and water when levels allow. Boat time gives you low-angle photography and a fresh perspective on the channels. On land, you follow tracks through open woodland and along the river lines, often meeting elephants moving between water and shade. Back at camp, the Osprey Retreat brings a spa, lap pool and quiet corners for a slow hour between activities. Little DumaTau next door offers an even more intimate base for small private groups or families.

A win that signals something bigger

DumaTau’s recognition places a classic safari setting on a global stage. It acknowledges more than style. It speaks to a camp that uses its position in the wider Kavango Zambezi landscape to steward elephant corridors and to host guests with a light, thoughtful touch. If you have been waiting for a sign that the Linyanti belongs on your shortlist, this is it. Read the world list and Africa list from Condé Nast Traveler for the full context of the award.

How we like to weave it into a journey

DumaTau works beautifully as the northern chapter in a Delta and Linyanti circuit. Start with a water-focused Okavango camp, then step into DumaTau for the elephant flows and big-sky drives of the Linyanti. If time allows, add a third stop elsewhere in Botswana, or cross to Victoria Falls at the end. Tell us your dates and pace. We will thread DumaTau through a route that matches how you like to travel.
